| Here are a few details
about the Gen Con Auction: |
| Staffed
by Mr. Ken Fonarow, the auction is a popular 'event' that you can
catch through the convention, even if you arn't a hard core collector.
In fact, chances are most attendies arn't, and they'll find plenty
of deals to make them happy! Here are a few tips to keep in mind: |
- ONLY
valid Gen Con '99 badge holders may register for a lot.
- Those with
Visitor passes may attend and make purchases, but cannot
sale.
- Auction
bidding card cost around $2 and is good for the duration of
the convention.
- Go as often
as you like! Food and drink is not allowed, so that helps cut
down on too many collectors camping out. :-)
- Each game
type (RPGs, Wargaming, Board Games, etc.) has it's own hours
of sale. Check your Gen Con '99 booklet (picked up on-site when
you register) for those hours.
- Arrive
early to the appointed hour of sale of the item type you like.
Sometimes things get ahead of schedule, when no one is bidding
on the current lots, and Ken appeases the restless crowd by
asking them what they'd like to see up for bid.
- Remember:
an upset hard-core collector is more dangerous then a Pit Fiend
peeled by a Chaosman. :-)
Note: these tips do not reflect
the views of WotC, Andon Unlimited, TSR, or the Auction staff.
But we think they are pretty good advice.
